I'm Austin Robinson, an analyst born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee. My background spans ecology, statistics, and business analytics, brought together through a graduate degree in Analytics from Northeastern University and a bachelor's in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, with a minor in Business Analytics, from the University of Tennessee–Knoxville.
My work centers on turning complex data into comprehensive, decisive insights through visualization, spatial analysis, and evidence-based planning. I'm drawn to questions where data can inform real decisions about communities, environments, and economic systems.
I've applied Python, R, SQL, Tableau, and GIS tools across graduate-level projects with real organizational partners at the local level — including a capstone with MRBLA mapping community dynamics and infrastructure features across Maine to support community development research, a financial fraud detection analysis built on transaction-level data, and a relational database system designed from the ground up. Approaching each project with clear communication, careful analysis, and attention to the meaning behind the data gave me a sense of what professionals actually need from an analyst.
Before analytics, I worked as a workers' compensation claims specialist at MEMIC, where I evaluated claims and coordinated among injured workers, employers, medical providers, and attorneys to reach fair outcomes — work that sharpened my judgment, communication, and data-driven decision making. Earlier, at NEMO Equipment, I managed customer support and international shipping logistics for outdoor gear, and as an herbarium technician at UT-Knoxville I digitized specimen records for a global collections network, building the attention to detail that carries through everything I do.
I'm currently exploring opportunities in data analytics, visualization, and geospatial analysis — particularly with organizations working on economic development, environmental impact, or community-focused research. My long-term motivation is simple: use these skills to expand economic opportunity in communities like the one I grew up in.
